Good Bye, Mother Blue Bird
I know this sounds foolish, but I did not realize how hurt I would be when the family of Blue Birds grew up and moved on with their lives. I really thought I would get to see the youngsters before they left, but I didn't. This is the last and only photograph I took of the mother and she look sooooooo thin and raggedy. The parents were steadly feeding their young and I think doing without themselves. I took this photogaph on Monday of this week and Tuesday, they were gone. I cried. This old dogwood limb was their favorite perching spot. I wish them well, and hope they will return next year to parent a new family in the home my husband and I so lovingly built for them.

I think she was wise, Leann as she was always wary when she brought food to the young. The male was a lot more open and would fly to the next box even if he knew you were watching. She wouldn't. I am not so sure that if something happened to her ,the male would finish raising the young. Maybe she knew this., and that is why she was sooooo cautious.
