Wildflower Identification
Could someone help me identify this flower? Thanks!

I believe this is Butterfly Pea (wouldn't want to misspell that one), Clitoria Mariana. It's on page 199 of Ozark Wildflowers by the great Don Kurz.

Correctamundo on the i.d., Dominic

It does my heart good to see you making use of my book.

Best,
Don

Don:

I don't know how anyone can use any other book but yours - Hunter's is just so difficult to use and yours is so easy, especially for someone like me who doesn't know anything but "duh, the flower is red"!

Awe shucks, Mr. Ernst, you know how to make a fella blush. Thanks!

Hey Glenn, I might note that your flowers are a bit small compared to the leaves because the petals are young and still expanding. The botanist that named the flower mariana after his wife, Mary, had a certain body part in mind for the genus name. Hey, botanists are people too...

Best,
Don

Uh hum...I wondered, about that when I saw the name. I thought "naw, couldn't have anything to do with that..."!
