"I did some googling and found this source. The colors would not be good for diffusing sunlight but if you just need rain protection, these might work. The clamp attaches both horizontally and vertically. I think I'll order one...

Update: I just noticed that they have free shipping and a two-day delivery so I ordered two of the blue ones."

ANOTHER UPDATE: Yesterday, I received the beach chair umbrella mentioned above. The clamp fits on my tripod leg and the base is flexible enough to bend the umbrella to a vertical position to offset the slant of the tripod leg. There are also two adjustments depending if you want a vertical or horizontal attachment. And, the blue color really isn't that bright.

Best,
Don

I was in Rogers today and stopped by the Sportsman's Warehouse and they have Chairbrellas for $6.95. I think they are the same type that Tim Ernst uses. If I remember correcty, Tim has the shaft duct taped to his tripod leg, right Tim? They have a flexible shaft that can be mounted to your tripod legs and come in dark colors, navy blue, forest green and red. The interior is grey. I picked up several of them.

Yes Tom, that is basically the same as the original chairbrella but with the added grey lining. I hope this means they will keep them in production for a while longer. I find the other ones are too long and don't pack down as nice. I would add that your choice of duct tape is important - my 15-year old daughter buys all of my duct tape and she always comes home with wild colors. When I was out with the National Geographic photographer it always seemed that the leg my gooseneck was taped to was facing his camera, and that duct tape was PINK! If they publish that photo in the magazine I will be forever known as the pink tape photographer!
