Precarious Perches
Much thanks to Todd giving me directions to the Canon City cactus blooms. I had much fun yesterday (well, until i slid on scree into a cactus and got an acupuncture treatment that will last me a year  ) Here's one of the 'precarious perches), hand held, no way to mess with a tripod when youre trying to balance yourself to keep from falling off a cliff!

Here's a tree i shot while waiting for more blooms to bloom.

I climbed about 7-800 feet looking for more precarious perches.

Oh, what the heck, one more. More to follow on ESS!

Wow, what a haul! I especially like that first one, beautiful clean background! I didn't do much climbing, I was wearing shorts. Next time, though, a pair of puncture resistant chaps/pants might not be a bad idea.

Stan,

These really turned out great...it seems your precarious positions payed off. Nicely done!

Talk about some color! Even though it doesn't appear sharp to my eyes, I really like that last one. It has a nice abstract feel with the colors and textures.

I really like the reds on the flowers, they really dominate the shots

I really like the unique comp and the light in the first image.

Nice collection of images, Stan. I have to agree with Paul Weggeman on the last one; doesn't seem sharp. Other than that, kudos.

Nice series, Stan. You had quite a day. I really like the diagonal rock and cacti. That was a capture and a half.

Sorry about your "acupuncture" treatment.

Sure hope you have lots of night shots lined u.

Carol

No pain no gain right? Well you gained!

Sweet collection of images Stan, I really like #1 & #3. It was worth the accupuncture to get these shots!.

I received a bit of unintended acupuncture, too. But James has it exactly right. Nice stuff, Stan. I like the next to last one. Your scramble was worthwhile.

What a great mini-clinic in backlighting! The thorns in #1 and #3 really stand out with the lighting you captured, and the red in #1. Wonderful photos. :toast:
