Good times Bad times
I have been watching 2 fox earths close to each other for a few weeks and both have 3 cubs, One of them i can view from the road and have seen the vixen visit and feed the cubs, The other is down the road in some woodland these cubs are smaller and i have in the last couple of days started to get some shots, I managed to get permission to shoot the other cubs last week but the farmer has ploughed the field for a couple of days getting very close to the earth and for the last few days i have seen the vixen but not the cubs, Today i found a dead cub in a neighbouring field close to the road and feel that the others may have gone the same way,Its one of those things but boy did it make me feel bad to find a tiny innocent creature that had not made it through the first few weeks of life,This image was taken a couple of days ago at the woodland earth,The tiny cub came closer than i expected so i had to make a decision to either clip its feet or have it tight in the frame, I chose to leave some room at the top for editorial reasons

Seems that the wheels of industry stop for no man {or beast}, but a pity they couldn't have had a bit more breathing space for a while longer.............such is life though!

I think you made the right framing choice Dave, and the clipped feet are of no concequence in this instance IMO, as the face is such a strong element.

Sad story, but a fine result :toast: :toast:

Hi Dave,

Nature can be upsetting at times, but hopefully these little guys will make it through to adulthood, I was stunned today to count 9 dead adult foxes on the road, from a 30 mile trip

Regards

Rob

It is sad when lives so young are lost. But the fox is a strong species, they loose many young and old, but the vixens will have new young next year, and they may well survive and be in a better location.

Good shot. Right decision what to photograph (I think, I would have done the the same).

Lovely shot Dave, It's all about the face, so I'd say that you got the framing spot on.
