Blue Creek Falls...
Nothing serious, just messing around with some PS Stuff.......

I left the water tinted blue as Marc mentioned in an earlier post.....

do you think it looks natural

thanks

Darren, you certainly don't have to tint water blue just to get more cooler tones in your greens. You can have both by simply selecting either area and adjusting to taste using masks to conceal your adjustments. That said, I do like a hint of blue here in the water - something that is there in the open shade but not always noticed. I like your perspective here quite a bit. Kind of like an Elowah-style on a different icon.

Thanks Marc,

I feel good about trying new things from time to time...

the water is not PS'ed at all...its how it showed up when shot in auto WB this morning......the only thing I did in PS was tone down the highlights a hair and used the selective color for yellow and slid it up about half way for this web version.....

Looks a tad oversharpened and a bit too bright on top, but the blue hue in the water works well here.

Hi Darren, What a beautifully composed shot. I love the serene dreamy quality of your work. Thanks for posting.

Darren, this looks good. Do I detect the need for some straightening or are my eyes not gimballed properly?
I really like how the lower part looks with the river coming at me. Was the light even, or was the sun on the falls? If the light was even, then I'd say the river looks bluer compared to the falls.

Btw, thanks for commenting on House Windows. Mark does these so much better, mine is pretty ordinary by comparison.

Overall a beautiful scene. It seems tilted to the Right quite a bit based on the white water line in the middle of the image. But I notice that rotating to fix that would loose more of the bottom rocks which are a little tight already. Not too crazy on that much blue in the water (a tad less would be preferred). The gorge looks great this year - it better with all the rain we have received !

Hey there guys and gals, thanks for the comments....

as Ned and I were walking out of the Gorge today we were talking about some beer and how refreshing it would be to have a few....well I guess I did my part on that......I got 2 hours of sleep last night.....Picked Ned up at 5am and we were shooting waterfalls by 6am....it really was a beautiful thing.....so this afternoon I came home and cracked open a ice cold one and decided to work some images...I have already rotated this once based on the upper right cliff level with the top of the falls....but as I look at it now I can see where it looks tilted.....as far as the blue in the falls compared to the blue in the creek, the falls themselves are pretty white and I doubt they would pick up that blue tint...the RAW file does not show blue there.....all of my next posts for a while will really be about me experimenting with different things.......I am just out there having fun and not worrying about any daily grind type stuff.........thanks again for all the comments and suggestions...much appreciated!!!!

Hi Darren,

I like the presentation here as it is, except maybe crop a hair off the top to eliminate the grey sky. I like the rocks in the front especially.

You & Ned have confirmed it - I must go to the Gorge on Monday.

I too am digging the comp here Darren. While I use auto white balance all the time I always back it up with a white card, it can be quite wrong at times. With that said, I think the color looks pretty good here. If you did back off the blues, I'd only do it a tad. To add to what Marc said, another very easy way to restrict color adjustments is to use the Blend If sliders.

Like your low perspective here, Darren.. agree that the water looks just like it did as we were witnessing it... Had a great time with you.. looking forward to the next adventure..

Having a good time is with camera in hand with or without a friend, yur preference, hiking the streams and hills and mountains and a cold one waiting... :) Nice job!

I like your comp. here and the coolness of the water is effective, Darren. I would like to see the greens a bit warmer and a little less sharpening.

Another nice shot, Darren. I like the hint of blue in the water. Did anyone mention that the image is rotated CW? Also, I would crop out that bit of bright sky.
