Elan wood warbler
Having just pored through hundreds of 'almost' and 'if only' kite shots, I settled on this shot from our earlier visit to Elan valley. This is my first ever shot of a wood warbler(at least I think it is!, so The fact that it is a fairly large crop bothers me less than it should.

400D 100-400 @ 360
1/160 f/5.6 iso 400

C&C welcome

Very nice shot Eric. Lovely composition and well captured songster. Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to 'God's Country', it would seem the sun was shining shone for you all but then doesn't it always in Wales!!

Eric,

Excellent shot, I really didn't have much luck with these little chaps.

Did you purposely use 360mm zoom instead of 400mm? I have heard that at 400mm the lens becomes a little soft (Maybe this is a general statement about all zooms?).

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. No Rob, I used it on 360, because I was too stupid to pull it out properly!. I have heard the same , but I can't say that I have noticed any improvement at shorter lengths.
