Flower Identification
I am not sure what kind of flower this is. I have been told it is a rare flower. I received a phone call today telling me they were blooming. So out I headed to Spitler Woods State Park.

It was a cloudy day which is great for close up work. The wind had died down some, which was good. And I had a great time.

Can anyone tell me what kind of flower this is?

It looks like Star Solomon Seal based on the picture I have. Never seen one in person. Very nice image, David. I like the bright green background.

It is a wild Hyacinth. If you look for them in a wild flower book, they are usually listed in the blue section. They look more white to me, so I do not know why?
Nice looking image. Great job on the background. It really shows off the flower.

David,

You have wild hyacinth, Camassia scilloides. You may want to pick up a book called "Illinois Wildflowers" to use for i.d. This species appears on p. 177...

Best,
Don

Thanks for al the help. I had a phone call from a friend to tell them they were blooming. Don, I do have your book but am not able to find it. You know how that goes. I used it a lot last year. Bought it from Tim. It is a good book. Thanks to all for the remarks.

Don, I forgot that I actually have two of your books. I carried one in my vehicle and the other stayed at home. I did find one of them last night. I am glad that you mentioned that most of the flowers are blue but on a rare occasion they are white. All of the flowers in the group were white. Just wanted to let you know, I am carrying the book in my truck again. It makes it fun to look flowers up after shooting something new and the book is easy to use.
