First Barn Owl
Hi to all,

Barn Owl , this was my first attempt at photographing these beautiful birds and although it's not perfect I have to say i'm quite pleased with it , the picture was taken in very low light early one morning , I had to use iso1000 to try and gain a reasonable shutter speed hence all that noise , when my PS skills improve i'll have another go at the processing , thanks for looking.

Converted in DPP / Processed in CS2 (Full frame , touch off the left for comp)

Canon 1D3 , 500F4IS+1.4T/c , Bean bag on car roof
1/640th @ F5.6 -1/3rd iso1000 RAW

Not really for critique but you can if you want

Regards

Andy...

Looks like a fine image to me, i'd be more than happy to get an image as good as that of a Barn owl!

Your ISO1000 is probably better than ISO 400 on my D2X

Well Andy I only see Barn Owls on my way to work , which is at night. I think I would be happy with this one and more so if he had been actually looking towards you.

Well Andy, I can go one better than Craig - I only seem them in other folks photographs on this forum

Nice comp, nice flight posture and looks sharp in that facial disc so top marks to you :toast:

Not a bad shot at all, I'd be pretty pleased with that for a first effort - or even a last one come to that.
