Kingfisher
Kingfisher.

This bird spent a lot of the time catching dragonfly larvae, mainly Libellula. It was also taking other small items too.

Lovely shot John,
Was this taken from a hide? 100-300mm is quite short for these little birds, I've found a landing spot but do I need to hide or can I just sit quietly, I guess it depends on the bird.

Another stunner John. Brilliant lighting, background and detail. Nice pose too, the twisted head gives a strong diagonal which seems to have added dynamism.

Great colour and detail John. I'd also be curious as to whether you were in a hide?

Thanks very much every one for your interest. Yes - 90% of my work is from a hide. I often use portables but this was a permanent one which we built really for Snipe, so this guy was a bonus !
Distance a- about 5-6 foot.
