Everyone tells me I should stop bleating on about the apathy of British nature photographers and put my money where my mouth is. So, here's a first post (technology permitting).
After three unsuccessful nights in a forest hide recently without any pictures, I was very relieved when a forester friend told me of a half-rogue male capercaillie that whilst not exactly tame, would at least allow a forlorn photographer just a few quick pictures.
What a lovely and unusual pose! The eye looks like he's staring straight at you! You're exposure looks bang on the money giving beautiful detail in those blacks! Nice composition!
Welcome Peter. Nice to see you posting here.
This is a great one to begin with. Exposure is dead on and the red between all those mid tones looks wonderful.
Thanks for sharing and please keep them coming.
A bit of talent on here will make a change .....That's me banned then??
Great first post and superb exposure and detail. They can be very unfriendly when the mood takes them so being allowed a few shots was very co-operative of him.
Nothing like a bit of local knowledge, I have been told that we have them here within 45 mins of my appartment but cant quite get an exact location
Lovely image of a magnificent bird-Look forward to more
Great first post Peter. you have caught thedetail in teh blacks perfectly and as Edwin says the red around the eye is the icing on a very fine cake indeed. Eric
