I think I got lucky going into the Flint Hills when I did last weekend. This is another shot from Saturday morning. These cloud formations which where more beautiful to me than threatening seem to be in just the right place as the sun started it’s morning rise. The morning was gorgeous and just got better as it went on. Here, I was standing in the middle of open prairie for as far as the eye can see, with nothing but a camera and tripod (which was wonderful!) I really felt like a small piece of a very big picture.
This is a slight blend of the same image processed twice in raw.
Cropped to a 1:2 ratio for more of a wider look.
You must be paying the cloud gods pretty well, Brad...your last two posts are extraordinary. I think for prairie shots to look their best, a strong sky is essential. You've certainly succeeded in that department.
With the recent burn-off at Flint Hills, there should be some incredible shots to be had there over the next few months. See ya on the prairie...
The contrasting line of vegetation along the creek is good, and the hill gives the horizon enough of a bump to add interest and provide a focal point. I'd like to suggest, though, that you take a look at cropping the image to get the big cloud off of dead center. I think the way to do that that does the least damage to your vision of the image is to crop the right side about at that little clump of lighter green vegetation that's on the bottom edge of the photo. Anyway, see what you think.
Looks very good Brad. A definite one with nature feeling. Comp is ok for me. Is that vegetation purple or is that my monitor? Doesn't really matter though. Great shot.

Nice shot Brad, and good job on the blending...the tones look pretty natural. I'll have to agree with Glenn that the vegetation looks a bit purple. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Brad, nice work out on the prairie. Looks like your taking advantage of the Konza access you mentioned. Really nice work and an amazing sky.
