Well, I finally have something recent I feel is worth posting. I made it to Rowena Mon early but missed the sunrise (I thought it was cloudy there like in PDX). But I did find this nice juxtaposition of a barn and balsamroot together, even though the barn is across the ravine. It was windy, though, so up the ISO you go...
I also thought it might look better with the Orton technique. I also have a B&W version, but perhaps color is ticket on this one? Tell me what you think.

I really like this image of the Rowena Barn. Especially the yellow curve of the balsamroot foreground matching the curve of the pathway and middleground.
Exceptionally nice, especially the wave-like horizontal repetition of the balsamroot lines, the path, the hill going up to the edge cliff, the hill near the barn and the tree line behind the barn. What a nice pattern.
Very painterly achievement. Glad you posted in color. To me, balsamroot in BW makes me scratch my head– Anyway, aside from personal preferences, the scene is so appealing. Lots of texture, great comp, and very soothing.
I am gonna go against the grain here........I feel the soft focus doesn't work well and I would like to see this image without it...Also I would like to see this with a slightly cooler tones...the yellow and greens in the balsamroot kind of run together.....
I had a similar problem on my D300 until I fixed it in camera with the Kelvin White balance.....
I do like the comp but would prefer the barn on the left side....( thats just how my brain works )
Thanks all, and to be honest, I haven't calibrated my screen, so I don't have a clue how dark/light things are on other computers. It looks plenty bright to me at home, but it probably could use some lightening...
