This is from a backpacking trip to the canyonlands the weekend before last. I was exploring the perimeter of Chesler Park, and this is looking over the ridge to the south. I actually really wanted to go hiking/camping in the area in the distant right side of the photo, but the ranger said that the area is permanently closed to all human activity for research purposes, except for once a year in the fall when they do a guided tour.
Nice Jack. Needles is one of my favorite places and I think this captures the chaotic nature of that area pretty well. I also like the smiley face pattern in the foreground rock.

Great light and colors here, Jack! Chesler was the first hike i ever did in the 4 corners region, when i was living in NY about 14 years ago. A very cool place.
I also really like your druid arch shot.
Just as a matter of curiosity, where did you place the grad line? I don't see any sign of it in the image. My own efforts with ND grads (especially hard edged) have been hit or miss so I'm always looking at how others are using them.
Thanks everyone! Mark - I placed the grad line right about at the horizon, just high enough where the rocks weren't being darkened much or at all. But you can see that the pointy rock at top left did get darkened a little bit.

Beautiful shot...I continue to be tempted by 4x5 thanks to your pictures. Nicely done.
