Mating Mint leaf Beetles
Hi Guys,

Went out early this morning to look for hatching dragonflies but did find none due to the overcast weather conditions. These conditions worked well however to get this type of shots without harsh shadows/highlights. Ideal macro weather i would say...

Greetings,

Jeroen Stel

I like it and the fact you can see so much reflection in beetles body.

Great beetle shot Jeroen. I love these guys.
I'm confused by the focal length(195) you give for a 150mm though or am I thick ?!
Cheers

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments so far!
To JohnR: It is the 150mm x the 1.3 crop factor wicht turns the focal length into 195mm

Hi Jeroen,

Great shot. Nice detail and colour.

I will add that it's not Chrysolina menthastri ('Mint Leaf beetle') but Gastrophysa viridula ('Green dock beetle'). The hugely swollen abdomen of the gravid female is characteristic of this species, and not seen in C. menthastri.
