Iris at the Beaver Marsh
The Yellow Flag Iris has begun blooming at the beaver marsh in the CVNP. This invasive species (Iris pseudacorus) fills a wetland area just south of the beaver marsh, off of the towpath trail. They aren't at peak yet, but there are plenty to shoot.

If you've shot this location before, plan to bring some muck boots this year. The beavers have been doing some re-engineering in the area and there's a lot more mud and water to deal with. Areas that were dry last year are pretty soggy this year.

Nice to see these Irises, Chuck! There are some growing nearby and just today I checked their progress while driving by..maybe another week here before they bloom.

Nice shot, I like the color. I don't think we have any around here but I will have to keep my eye open. Those beavers keep going.

Chuck - I love these flowers, and this is nice, but I can't figure out what's going on with the right edge of the main flower. It seems to fade strangely into OOF/background. ???

CJ, there's a second unopened bloom in the FG. The shallow DOF is making it appear OOF. (Whew, that's way too many acronyms for one afternoon...)

AAHH - that bloom is in the FG. For some reason I was seeing it as BG. Figured DOF was a factor but the OOF FG appeared as OOF BG to my eyes - LOL. OMG - make it stop!!

Beautiful shot, Chuck. The iris really pops here.
