Found this pair when out on my exploration of Red River Gorge. The little centipede(?) really made this one for me. Glad he held still.

I think you nailed the title - an interesting little world down there!

Very Cool Dominic, very well done color and sharpness. And that centipede is sweet! Nice job, I really like it.

Great capture, Dominic. I feel like I can reach out and touch those mushrooms.

Such stately mushrooms and a napping millipede. They can sometimes go scurrying about and then suddenly go into a stupor. Don't know why but I have seen them also do this on prairies...

Millipede! Thanks, Don. By the way, what's the determining factor for millipede vs. centipede?

I was looking at my post and forgot a detail. So here is another comp with an area isolated. The detail I will show in the follow-up.

And here is the detail!

Millipedes are more cylindrical, with 2 pairs of short legs per segment and slow moving.

Centipedes are more flattened, with 1 pair of long spreading legs per segment, very active and fast-running. They are also more likely to bite!

Interesting scene, Dominic - so much going-on on the forest floor that goes unnoticed. Nice work in capturing all the small details.

Sweet! A fantastic intimate scene made all the better by the creatures of the forest. Beautiful shot and great web processing too! :toast:
