David,

great shot, there's a certain mysterious/dreamy feel about the shot. On a personal level I think I might like to have slightly darker/saturated greens in the foreground. Great shot either way.

I like that - so many fog shots seem to make everything look dark and gloomy when in reality everything is often brighter and better lit. You have captured that very well.

Hello David.

Like this. I think you have chosen a good composition for this one. The effect of the main trees branches being darker than any thing else really make it stand out. And the nice diagnal line of the mossy rocks leading down to the other trees in the distance, really make this a well balanced picture.

Now this is really a small nit but I think it would help. And thats to tone down the bright area under the main trees branch on the left, and try to match the rest of the fog we can see through the branches.

I would love to see this as a big print. :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

That bit of land you mention is actually much further back, so there is very little definition to it, the thick fog obscuring it almost completely. It does pull the eye there a little, I never really noticed this before.

Wonderful ! I reckon the whole shot could be given a little more "guts" by dropping the gamma perhaps.
Wistman's by the way ??

You guessed it Mr Robinson. I have played around with making it pop a little more but its not representative of what it looked like. It was very light and lacking in contrast. I sat there getting it to seep in to my bones just like the damp was.

You finally got it then Dave - I take it there was enough fog to make it work this time around.

Great image!

Chris.

I know, at last! I have waited long enough.

Yes the fog was super thick on the higher ground, but here in the valley it was very sporadic, the clouds simply stayed above the trees. I was certainly swearing a lot as usual and trying to will it to happen, so I just waited it out. There were sudden burst of fog that would roll down the hill for 5 mins or so and then it would all clear up again, so it was fast working to capture all the different compositions.
