Guillemot - possibly Bridled
Hi to all,

Guillemot , photographed at Bempton this afternoon , not my intended target species but i'll have to make do seeing as though the Razorbill's didn't want to play ball , trying to track these little missiles proved to be quite a task , one second their in the viewfinder and the next their not :frown: , made some big steps forward with the Mk111 and it's AF tracking in Servo mode today , so thanks to Dave Bartlett for the help on my last post , C.Fn3 5.1 works a treat , cheers Dave

Great shot.
You'd wonder how they got off the sea with wings like that !

Cracking in-flight cap Andy - you had more success at it than I did, I gave up in the end :toast: :toast:

An excellent flight shot. Exposure just right and enough detail in the eye to make it stand out.

Thanks for the comments chaps , appreciated :toast:

Hi Dave , thanks for tip , although the Mk111 isn't perfect it's now much more usable for low contrast flight shots , before this C.Fn was enabled Guillemot shots were out of the question so thanks once again.

Cheers

Very nice capture.

It is a standard guilli, bridled G. have a white eye ring and flash from the eye to back of the head in the ear indentation. Brunuchs G. are extremely rare in our waters but have a white strip just above the bill and the black on the throat ends in a sharp inverted V. The stripe in your bird is a reflection on the bill

Fantastic capture Andy, having seen Mr Astbury's shots from there and now yours I'm really looking forward to making the trip to Bempton soon. I'll also have to check that CFn out on my 1D3.

Andrew

Great shot!

But you have me in a quandry now, I've been useing CFIII.5 set to 1, is this now your setting, giving you these results. It just that one of the links in your previous posts on this subject sugests it should be set to 0.

God what would we do with MkIII customer functions to debate.....

Thanks for the comments guys , appreciated as always :toast:

Hi Chris , yes , C.Fn111 5.1 is the setting i'm going to stick with , at least for flight shots anyway , that and the tracking sensitivity set at it's fastest , I managed considerably better results with these settings.
