alright chaps, can you help me with somthing that i am struggling with. I want to put a black line around my images with my name in the bottom right hand corner for printing to save me having mounts made for framing. I feel stupid asking this question but i cant work out how to do it. Any way this cute little chap was found on the edge of a wood in lincolnshire.

Thanks Lewis :wavey:

Something like this?

Open your image, increase canvas size by however many pixels you want (in ratio of photo size works best), select all and then use stoke of around 5 px inside the selection. Use the type tool to write your name in any font or size you want.

Cheers,
John

This is probably not the only way but its how i do it in PS 2. Go to image-canvas size. Make the width 1 inch for example, and the height the same, select black as the canvas extension colour, click ok, this will give an even border 1 inch wide in black around the photo. If you want more black at the bottom again go to image- canvas size, and put 1 inch in height only, and select the middle top anchor arrow, this will give a black border 1 inch wide round the photo with a 2 inch border at the bottom. You can make these borders multi coloured, in whatever format you wish. To put your name on, select the text box on the photo, not the border, for some reason it doesnt wotk like that, type your text, in the font and colour you wish, then select edit-free transform to move the text onto the black border. Im sure there must be better ways but being a photographer and not a photoshop expert thats the way i do it.

There is also a tool called BDSizer. You can get the pictures framed, you can put your name in it and you can watermark your picture. You can even do a number of pictuers at the same time by doing it in batch. Easy to use and it is free to use. It also gives you the possibility to downsize your pictures al at once.

I had the same question six months ago, so I can make you happy now (I hope).

There's also a video tutorial on doing this on www.photoanswers.co.uk if I remember rightly
