Blue Tailed Damselfly
40D, 180/3.5, Benbo 1 + BH1.
ISO200, 1/320 @ f8, Spot metered, Manual exp & focus.
ACR 4 + CS3 resize & sharpen.

Hi,

Blue Tailed Damselfly with the Dorling Kindersly look, pure luck that the light fell right for this one shot, bg is water with white cloud relections that by chance coincided with good light on the damselfly and a break in the strong breeze the south east had today.

All the best

Phil

This is a lovely picture. Everything is perfect to me, even the Damselfly (magnificent animals by the way).

W  W Phil - this is different and for me the best damselfly image I have seen. The soft light combined with the BG, detail and DOF are perfect!

i like this very much Phil, first thought was how did he get a damselfly in a studio

I thought the same as Jack, the simplicity and detail makes this really stand out. Excellent shot

Hi Phil,

Great sharpness, DoF and exposure, damselfly is great. I have to go against the trend here and say I don't like the background though. I appreciate it's natural, but it looks artificial, and the image has a 'studio' feel to me, with the damselfly 'out of context'.

Hi Phil, I initially thought you'd shot this in a studio. Works well.

Very 'clean' looking shot Phil, and certainly very detailed!!

I can see greg's point, as the setting does showcase the creature exclusively {to my eye}, although it does work very nicely :toast: :toast:

Hello Phil.

Its all been said and I dont mind the background, we need to try different things or we just dont go forward.

an excellent image Phil. I can see why some might not like the background, but the lighting and compostion are perfect.
