Another Heron enviro + REPOST
Sorry folks but yet another Heron. This is from the same sesssion as the lasr enviro shot. The bird is actively preening and I've chosen a portrait format to emphasise the elongated bird. I'm not sure if this works better than the previous landscape format or not. All comments welcome.

A really nice shot, wonderful lighting, would like to see the bird looking into the frame then it would be perfect!

Nice shot and beautiful light, but in my opinion the heron is a bit lost in its environment.

I actually quite like this as is Robert, though a 10% increase in mag wouldn't go amiss - I just like the shape of the tree and I think the perspective compression works a treat :toast:

Looks phenomenally like Redesmere in Cheshire but I suppose it isn't

Hi Roberyt

Ditto Craig's comments - this would make the Heron instantly recognisable and help it to stand out more!

Very nice image Robert, I prefer this to the earlier one. As Andy has said a slight magnification would be good. You've found a really good location there.

Thanks to all for your comments. All are appreciated. Taking into account said comments I'm posting another shot with a bit of magnification and with the heron looking into the picture. The bird is instantly more recognizable due to it showing the distinctive heron outline (as opposed to the first one preening). However I'm not 100% certain that the magnification works for me as it now seems to be a heron shot that wasn't quite big enough, if you get what I mean.
What do you think?

Either comp works well for me. I like the bird's pose in the second best, but it looks a bit hot in the whites. I do like these shots with some environment in.

Very nice image Robert , prefer the second post , whites are a little hot but nothing that can't be sorted with a little more processing , but that tree really is something else , thats one cool perch.
