Capitol Reef flowers were a bit stunted this year by a dry, cold season. Claret Cup were beyond peak bloom when I was there; Fishhook Cacti were also past prime (caught one at the top of the Burr Trail switchbacks in mid-week). White Milk Vetch were in good shape, but yellow composites were lacking this year. Great yellow Sego Lily along the N-B Road, along with some not-bad Paintbrush, Penstemon, and Gilia. Prickly Pear were just coming into bloom as I left (this is early), and looks like it's going to be a banner year for pink prickly blooms; if they follow the other cacti, though, blooms will be short-lived.

Goblin Valley Mules' Ears were at peak when I drove back through on Saturday, Copper Mallow looking good, and Primrose were still going strong. Looks like the further East you go in Utah, the better the flower season is this year.
