Wife and I hiked back to Elowah Falls
Looking for a bit easier hike for us, and motivated by many of the Elowah Falls shots I have been seeing recently. Man the falls are raging!!! Didnt bring the waterproof bag, so didnt go across the bridge....(been there before...and had the bag and needed it)

Yeah, that's probably more water than I've ever seen coming down these falls in about fifty trips there myself. Not surprising considering the record snow levels up above and the heat we've had lately. Nice perspective here.

Whoa.... that is a lot of water a flowing ! I like this comp but it seems a bit dark/dull overall. A bit more work and maybe a double esposure of the RAW to add some detail to the shadowy areas would help. Cool shot, RJ.

Yeah, I'll second that waterflow. It was waaay too wet to take a pic. It's a nice view here, too.

Marc, thanks. I remember last fall trying to play down stream and gingerly tiptoeing through the boulders to get some trees covering and the foreground rocks......no way ANYONE would be in that area now....most of the boulders were almost covered if not fully covered with water. Might go back next week with the waterproof pack and make my way across the bridge and climb up on the bank for some shots with the flow as crazy as it is...

John, I see what your saying.but it was pretty dark back in the gorge at 6:00AM (yeah...my wife gets up with me at 4:00 to go with me...lol...shes awesome) I think I will stick with the darkness like it is....trying to pull more shadow detail might introduce more noise.....If I go back...will bracket with a blend....per your suggestion. (duh...shoulda thought about that while I was there).

Kevin, thanks!!!

i dunno, I think the nearly silhouetted trees in the FG work in this comp. I think it's kinda cool. :toast:

The Clackamas river looked like the COLUMBIA today up past Estacada...

There is some amazing snow melting going on around here! Better to be safe. Jeez if you fell in you wouldn't slow down till you hit Astoria!!!

crikey, thats a TON of water. The scene overall seems fairly dark to me.

I mostly like it but that big 'ol darkish trunk on the right isn't helping.
