I'm quite sure everyone's lupine/balsam appetite has been heavily satiated enough to be without for a couple months, but I can't restrain the urge to share mine from a recent trip. Didn't have the time here (mostly attributed to weather skunkage) to get many new perspectives on the area.

Oh yeah, that's a nice one Trevor. You nailed those colors. That sky is indeed very complimentary.

I like it Trevor. When were you there? Looks kind of like the sunrise I had but better. I have been out twice this season and pretty much a bust both times. One ok image but won't post at this point since I know folks are feeling done with them. But your's is real nice and I am glad you posted it!

Bryan and I were there last tuesday for sunrise. There were two other photographers, one without a tripod, there at the time.

Stunning, Trevor - way to make this work! :toast:

It's way nice but it could be a little bit brighter, imho.

Interesting Trevor. Well, that was me and my brother there that morning! Here is a different image from that same morning to compare with yours. I don't care for mine as much as yours. I have some others too that might be better than this one I am posting but nothing has jumped at me yet so I have spent almost no time on these images. Maybe I will go back now after looking at yours.

I was pretty close to asking you if you visited any of the forums, but didn't want to break the stillness of the morning and feverish shooting. I was the taller dude with the dark hair, btw. How's the outback running for you?

Cool Trevor, well it was nice to meet, sort of. I was the one with the tripod, my brother had a camera but is not that serious of a shooter. Hopefully we will see each other out in the field again. I like the outback a lot, mainly because it fits my lifestyle (roomy for outdoor gear, sleep in car, awd, wagon, etc). I have had some issues, not the most relaible car I have ever had but pretty good. And probably has been my favorite car I have owned to date. I am just hoping they come out with a hybrid or diesel before this one dies on me, otherwise I might have to go the way of the Prius. Last I heard we won't see a hybrid Suby though until at least 2010 or later, unfortunately.

I think the flowers are perfect but the hot spot in the sky is very distracting to me.....

Awesome flower shot, but *&@! that sky. I get those skies a lot too. Great capture...

Really nice! It's hard to get too much of these when well done. I agree with Darren, I'd try to cool that hot spot just a bit so it isn't quite so attention grabbing.

Please excuse me if I am being too picky here, but the (ab)use of the word complimentary on these photo sites has really been getting to me lately. The word you really want to use is complEmentary! To compliment is to give praise to, to complement is to complete, or make whole.

Nice images, by the way (both). Adrian, I like the greater expansiveness of yours, both flowers and sky, but Trevor's has the greater foreground interest.

Gregg, thanks for pointing out the grammatical folly. Being a fan of writing, I'm generally more perceptive/anal towards grammar. I'll help enlighten people on the contextual inaccuracy of complimentary/complementary when I see it misused in the future.

I can tell you care about writing - you spelled my name correctly! I also see that you made the proper correction. I'm a math nerd by trade and the term has assorted meanings there, and is frequently misspelled in that context as well!

By the way, you guys up there don't know how envious I am that you occasionally run into each other out there. We have a photo club down here that occasionally has outings, but very few of the participants (none?) are into landscape photography at the level I see on this forum. :frown:

Trevor.....VERY nice work here. I agree somewhat about the hot spot in the clouds, but don't tone it down too much....There is a certian part that counterweights the heavier and excellently done foreground. (The idea to get the eye to rove to all parts of the frame) and it IS needed to balance out the picture.

Very 3Dish....great depth. Great composition....and the foreground flowers are very well defined and sized to really be the subject.

Great work.

Trevor, that's a great shot - and great decision to go vertical. I'll break from the group a bit and say that the foreground is a bit dark (and that could just be my Jurassic-era monitor), though the color is gorgeous. But it's a great image, and a reminder to all those Rowena admirers out there that an overcast sunrise can be just as dramatic as the more typical clear sky view! :toast:
