Pair of Bluebirds
I was in Kent CT. this weekend. The male brought the catapillar and gave it to the female.

Geat action shot Peter. The brightness of the background, although without detail, is stealing attention away from the bluebirds. Possibly a reduction in saturation might help? Was pleased you introduced yourself while we were at Macedonia.

HI Peter! Nice behavioral shot. Was it taken midday? I agree with Pat's idea about the bright BG. I also think a bit could be trimmed from the bottom. Keep 'em coming!! I rarely see any bluebirds here. :frown:

Hi Pete, thanks for the permission to edit your image. Your image is tack sharp, the composition is great and it tells a great story. But the sensor does not always capture the scene like your eye saw it. I used a "digital fill flash action" to brighten up the gorgeous birds and then toned down some of the background. A simple version of the "digital fill flash" can be accomplished by duplicating the layer, setting the blending mode to 'screen' and then adding a layer mask to "hide all", then use white at perhaps 20-30% opacity to brighten just one area.
Your image is great as shot, but perhaps a little tweaking could make it a little better. I have no bluebirds and hence I am extermely envious that you even get to SEE let alone photograph these glorious birds. Lisa

The lighting has made a good picture into a great one. Thanks from all of us for explaining how the digital flash is accomplished.

Hi Peter,

Great comp! Sharp, with a nice soft, simple background. I too would have removed the "intrusion monster", as I like to call it. It makes it much more pleasing to the eye. The light is a bit too harsh, but we cannot control all aspects of an image when it's a one time deal! So keep up the great work. CT never looked so good.
