Hi all, I am coming over for a work trip in a couple weeks to houston.
I have two spare days, Friday and saturday to do my own thing.
I was wondering if there was any good nature reserves in or our houston where i can go to photography some of your nature birds, or general wildlife.

Although I haven't done much birding, I would suggest you drive down to the coastal areas. There are quite a few bird sanctuaries in the area. Take a look at this site for maps and info:

Come prepared for HOT, HUMID weather and Hungry Mosquitoes! There are numerous good birding sites in and around Houston. The Houston metro area is roughly 80-100 miles in diameter, so plan carefully to avoid a lot of unnecessary driving.
Here are a few sites to consider:
W.G. Jones State Forest - Red-cockaded and several other woodpecker species
Sheldon Lake State Park - has a small rookery, but may be a little late for breeding season
San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Park - Shore & wading birds
Galveston Island & Port Bolivar - waders & shorebirds (HAS Bolivar Flats Sanctuary and many other site on the island)
Armand Bayuo Nature Center
Houston Arboretum & Memorial Park
Herman Park, Zoo & Museum district
HAS Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary (HAS - Houston Audubon Society)
Bear Creek Park
See my pbase site for photos of birds you can expect to see along the Texas coast.

Which looks quite central , and potentially has lots of different wild birds compared to the UK.
Thanks
