I was going through some older photos and stumbled upon this shot from atop Trail Ridge Road two years ago... not sure how I missed it. I hadn't even touched the raw file yet.

The road opens this weekend, by the way.

Great light, and those cloud patterns are to die for.

any idea if they have opened it up for the season yet

The road is all plowed. I just talked to someone who works at the AVC and they said they have been told that it won't officially open until Saturday, but the park has often changed its mind and opened early. In other words, no body really knows when it will open to the public.

Wow I've never seen converging Diagonal lines int he clouds like that before. Those clouds are cool!

I'm not entirely sure what's going on with the diagonal lines, but they appear in the same area of the sky in other photos I took at about the same time. So, they're definitely a natural occurrence. Physically, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but I've seen some weird stuff.

The clouds are indeed cool... I've seen that wispy virga on a lot of days up on Trail Ridge Road.

Nice light, and those clouds are way cool. Now if only that car were a red Ferrari!
