hi i have a work trip to Houston Texas in a couple of weeks, and would like to take my D300 and 200-400 Lens.
I am not sure how to take this equipment.
the hand baggage size limit is 22'' x 18'' x 10'' which isn't big enough for a lowepro which i can find, that will except my camera and lens.
my other option is to purchase a peli case and check the lot into the hold.
I would be extremely reluctant to check my camera gear, at least on the way out. The dimensions you give, though, are just about big enough to pack an elephant, let alone a camera backpack! What airline are you flying? I usually get the third degree when I drag my Think Tank Airport Security (22"x14"x9") past the jobsworths in their yellow t-shirts, and that has a 600/f4, a 300/f2.8, a 70-200/f2.8, a couple of bodies and a load of other stuff. I'm not sure that I could lift a bag as large as the one that you say isn't big enough
I used the D3/D300 and 200-400 have flown with it in a Thinktank and have not encountered any problems.I would not go for the Thinktank Airport security, too big and you will get issues. Instead take the slightly smaller Thinktank Airport International. I fly almost weekly with: BA, KLM, BMI, Finnair you name it and they all dont make any issue of it if and when i have the Thinktank with me.
