Aside from the detail getting completely slaughtered in the jpg, this rocks. The light colored grasses at the top pull the eye out of the frame, but I think the contrast/diversity is beneficial. Maybe burn them in just a scoche?
You know, the issue may be that the light-colored grasses bleed off into the white background of this web page. For a print that's going to be matted/framed - especially if the mat is something other than white - darkening the top may not be necessary. Send me one and I'll tell you for sure.
Definitely! I'll be heading off on vacation next week, but I'll give you a shout when I'm back and we can hook up. I have a 4x5 tranny that I need to get drum scanned, and then I'll have a print job for you, too.
The black background helps, but I'd still be inclined to darken those lighter grasses just a little.
This is a very interesting image Mark. It almost has an Ortonized effect. I really like the interplay between all of the soft colors present here, and the fence makes the comp much stronger for me.
Hey, Mark, this is very painterly. Love the colo rs in the scene. Suggestion: crop down to the top of the fence posts? That is if darkening the lighter grasses and frost at the top doesn't quite make it... Very good eye for this shot.

Actually, these colors are quite accurate. From last fall.
The print is quite sharp aside from the few grasses that were moving, although they add to it's dreamy effect.
I posted this over in M&N with a black background, go there and tell me what you think.
