I'm relatively new to the area myself, but I'd have to say that hiking/camping in Beaverton will be very disappointing.
You'll be a short drive from the Gorge. The Eagle Creek trail is close by and is a very nice hike, taking you past Punchbowl falls. You can't go wrong driving the Gorge - plenty of falls and accompanying trails. Not sure about camping in the Gorge, but I'm sure others will have advice.
Hi Danny. Your dilemma is going to be too many choices, and it's hard to suggest just a few without suggesting a lot. Normally that is a great time of year to start hitting the higher elevations; by the end of July some of the meadows on Hood can really begin to do well. This year there is so much snow it is hard to say for sure. The gorge is very accessible, and could easily consume your entire trip, and from Beaverton it's a quick hop over to Ecola State Park and Cannon Beach. What type of photos are you interested in? Waterfalls, vistas, flowers, coast?? Icons or more unique compositions?
Rick, John
Thanks for your advice, I usually shoot whatever catches my eye, but I like the give it a try at waterfalls, streams and forestry, but I think I'll also like to go back to Cannon Beach, was there last year didn't do so well weather wise though, and also Ecola state park. The Gorge is a must, didn't know about the Gorge last year didn't do my homework. Thanks Again
