Female Peregrine
Canon EOS 1Ds MKII, 1.4x conv, G1321, G1548, on board a boat, 40%ish crop, ISO 800, f8.

Hi All,

I am still sorting through something like 400 images from yesterday, but this one I particulary like, this female was having a go at the male who was sat behind us on a support pillar with food, which she obviously wanted him to take the young, but he was having none of it and stayed put. I have never before experienced what I did yesterday, to see and particulary to hear these birds calling was mind blowing, the real highlight was seeing the female climb to around 300m, turn and close her wings into a stoop dropping like a stone into a flock of waders on the shoreline, she eventually re appeared in hot pursuit just above the water, but chasing a pigeon, after three strikes, the pigeon some how got away, but it was amazing to watch :jump:

All comments welcome

Regards

I like the vertical blind look of the background and the bird's pose is superb.
Just lacking something like good light to make it pop.

They're beautiful birds, wish there where more up in the Pennines :frown:. FWIW, Pigeon are faster in level flight so if the Pere doesn't get on the stoop or return climb then the Pigeon stands a good chance of escaping.

Very nice shot, I like that sea of grey in the background.

Well-caught Rob. Enjoyed the background info too. A pity about the light, but whatever effect it has on the pictures, it will never ruin your memories.

Hello Man of Suffolk

I must go to see these birds this weekend.

The image looks washed out - needs a contrast boost and further sharpening (in my opiion anyway).

I'll send you my fast food retouch version.
