We decided to hit these falls this morning since they are so close to the road, and though rainy the hike was quite pleasant. To say this stream is high right now is an understatement!! I haven't personally been up there since the film days, so it was good to get up there. Since the flow is so high, this was the only perspective I could seem to get, (like everyone else lately)... man, the flow and fall was so strong I was getting hit with droplets like crazy.
This one was with my 20mm I think - no hood for the lens since they want over $40 for the crazy thing.. so a lot of wiping and clicking..
Had a nice little visit with Marc on the way out - I heard he got a pretty decent shot of the falls when we spoke a little later....
Thanks for you comments and critique...

Nice shot Ned. Thats Elowah alright . I love the way my eye follows the water from back and forth across the frame. My only nit would be a bit of a dark foreground but I know the challenging dynamic range between the heavily forested stream and the bright falls. Perfect motion in the water imho not too hard not too soft.
I was here a few weeks back in April and made an unfortunate "lens-cap offering" to the stream gods right near here. It has probably reached the Pacific by now with all the insane flow up there as of late.
Nice shot, Ned - having spent a lot of damp hours down there this year, I can appreciate the spray issues! Here's a tiny critique, and it might just be me becoming obsessive with this location: the branches that reach in front of the upper portions of the falls. Basically, you can't avoid them without really changing your foreground, so it might be worth cloning them out. You've done a great job of using that fallen tree as a major element. Thats my favorite part of this spot!
That's a great swoosh of water around the large mossy rock, Ned; so for me the bottom half of the image is much more dynamic. The upper falls of course adds to the overall context of where you are, but looks pretty ordinary compared with the rushing water and the characterful log tickling its toes in the flow.
Hey Ned, was great to meet you on the trail yesterday. I like the composition, I was about to write almost the same thing Catherine wrote. The foreground you captured really makes this shot.
