Toujours le blaireau
Bonjour a tous
Usually, when I get a opportunity to photograph something, I do it to death....This is the case with the badger at the moment. I am starting to build all sort of setup to photograph them in.....In this case I use buttercup for this picture. I could not believe it. I was there at 17h00 to build this setup....the magic is that now, As soon that I place the peanuts and a bit of peanuts butter within 1 minute they would be one or two badger outside the den.....Incredible, but still only one of the youngster is bold enough to come out that early....this badger came out at 17h30 and it took him a while to get “into” my setup.... I usually do not like picture of mammals in the sun but I think this one work OK, what do you think. The picture was taken with the 1Dmark 3, 70-200 f2.8,at 400iso.(F7.1)
Bonne journee a tous

Hi Frederic. I know what you mean about sunny shots. Its a lovely shot with eye contact and my only concern here is the contrast on a black and white animal. I've noticed that it is very difficult to expose for the white forehead stripe on a badger. Even with relatively soft light it is out of latitude range compared to the black fur underneath. It is a tough call. I love the setting, but feel the light is a touch too strong for our stripy friends. Then again I am looking at this from a little macbook so would be interesting to see what other peeps think. I still feel a naturally lit badgers is by far in a way more attractive than flash - so well done for getting there early enough. My cubs have been out at 1pm in the hot sunshine... would have never thought it possible!? :toast: :toast: :toast:

EDIT: Have just looked again on main screen at home and it looks fantastic so forget all my gibberish! :wavey:

The whites look fine to me in this shot, Frederic. It almost seems wrong not to see them by flashlight. Wonderful shot.

Very nice!

Is the Badger just laying there sunbathing?

Composition is great. Those buttercups are really value added.

No complaints or issues from this quarter - love the colour the setting brings and sunlight works ok for me.

Quality shot that really stands out from the artificially lit ones.
Buttercups are a great touch
