Spring is finally in motion in Minnesota...it's been a very long winter, and the coming of spring has been delayed even longer than usual. I recently purchased an extension tube for my dSLR, and I finally got an opportunity to give it a try this past Monday. Both images were taken after 4-5 hours of rain, thus the water drops. I used Helicon Focus to stack multiple exposures (7 for the bloom, 5 for the mature flower) in order to extend the depth of field. It was fun doing something differently photographically!

Tech Stuff: Olympus E-500, 40-150 @ f16, stacked exposures in Helicon Focus

A mature flower for contrasts sake -

Very impressive, Joel! Trilliums [or trillia? ;) ] are my favorite spring flowers and I haven't seen enough of them yet this spring...

Tim!

Both images are outstanding, Joel. Nice work with Helicon and your new equipment. Great job holding the detail in the whites. Our trilliums are done for the season. We're having a real cool and rainy stretch and blooms are running behind.

Very crisp / sharp images Joel. The contrast in the colors and the compositions are great. I might clone out the little brown spot on the leaf in the 1st image. Excellent captures. :toast:

Joel, love the rain droplets, adds a very dramatic feel. It will be nice to have some 70 degree temps this weekend in Minnesota. Hope you can get out and capture more images to share with us!

Thanks everyone!

Mitch, I cloned out a few other bits of debris, but left the one you mentioned since I felt it worked with the composition, and also so that it didn't look to perfect...a fine line for sure! Thanks for the feedback.

Mike, I hear you, 70's will be nice, though that means that the ticks will be active and in full force.

Nice work, Joel; I might like a hair more room on the bottom and left, but that's to taste. Looks like HF did a fine job with the first image.

Very impressed. I will have to try the HF sometime. I just started toying with extension tubes. The detail i really good and so is the composition. Brings photography to a new level
