I do not suppose any of yu would have some tubes you no longer use cause you bought that brilliant 180mm??
Just to tide me over whilst I save for the ultimate!!

Hi Paul the 180 dose 1:1 life size if you want to keep your working distance at life-size you can use a 1.4 tc.

Get a set of Kenko ones Paul - they work great

Not quite sure what Phillip T is talking about here but a set of Kenko Tubes are the best ever buy.

If you are looking at a 180 then the Sigma is again a best buy, I have compared my Sigma with a Canon 180 and in terms of sharpness there is hardly anything between them, I often use mine with the Canon 1.4 extender for a touch more mag (extenders work slightly differently when shooting close up) which needs the Kenko 12mm tube between the lens and extender... and works a treat.

The Kenko tubes are well priced and a purchase you will not regret.....

Hi Phil if you want more working distance use a 1.4 converter the extra magnification allows you to work from a bigger distance and still maintain 1:1, extension tubes do not allow any extra working distance but will give greater magnification (by spreading the image circle over a greater area if I remember correctly) i.e. more than one-to-one.

Phil.

Ps yes I know my reply wasn't very clear.

Hi Phil,

I have and regularly use the Kenko ext tubes and they are cheap enough to buy. I use them to get me that extra bit closer to the subject using a Sig, 150mm. I agree also with Phil H, that there really is no difference, beyond the price, of the Sigma when compared with Canon.. Save yourself the money and get yourself some tubes with the savings..
