Hi Everyone,

I had just taken delivery of my 300mm yesterday when I was leaving for a reece at a new location I’d found for Herons amongst other species! I decided to take it a long and put it though a few paces with a 1.7x TC attached as I’ve yet to receive the Acra-Style replacement collar! It was hand-held in overcast conditions and I have to say it performed magnificently! One tack sharp lens!

The halo is due to compression unfortunately! I’ve kept the sharpening down to a minimum. Let me know what you think!

I just like the pose of this one!

Happy shooting,

Hi Paul

I look forward to seeing more shot's with your new lens (thinking about one for my wife's Nikon).

That Heron, looks to me a little lost in the foreground/background. Head's sharp though.

Regards

Agree with ARD regarding the bird being lost a bit.
What a shot it could have been if it had the rock as a background

A good start with the new lens-agree that the bird gets abit lost-The nech seems whiter than normal which doesnt help

Quick reactions on your part Paul, and a fine result to boot!!

Looks like a high quality 'hand-holdable' combo!!

shame about the female mallard as well, my eye keeps getting drwn to this as the heron is a bit lost against the bright background sea.

Thanks for all the Comments & Critique!

Bertl :: I've purchased this lens for light/mid-range work and for a holiday later this year!

A.R.D. :: It's quite a light lens that very well built! Good all-round tack sharp lens IMHO!
