Bridled Guillemot + gull ID please
Hi to all,

Bridled Guillemot , photographed at Bempton this morning , another first for me so i was well pleased just to get one in the viewfinder , the white eye ring and stripe made it stand out from the regular Guillemots that were rocketing by , although it's not nailed i'm more than happy with it , thanks for looking.

Converted in DPP / Processed in CS2 (Cropped)

For those who are interested ,here's the techs.

Canon 1D3 , 500F4IS+1.4T/c , Gitzo1325 , Wimberley v2
1/2000th @ F10 -1/3rd E/comp iso400

All comments most welcome

Every right to to extremely pleased with this Andy :toast: :toast:

A cracking catch, and that eye-ring really grabs the attention!!

Although you are not a nikon user, may i ask if you are using a single focus area.......or a multiple of areas {i'm having a frustrating time with my bif efforts at the moment, using a single focus area only..........and on far easier subjects than this}.

I remember the first time I saw one of them, I thought a bird from above had splattered it

Anyway I digress ........... Very well caught and controlled exposure. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Hi Alan , I use multiple AF points for most of my flight shots now , i've given up using just the single point , i've found this method to be much more productive.

Thanks for the nice comments

Hi to all,

Can anyone ID this gull for me please , I thought it was a Herring gull going by the pink legs , but now i'm not so sure as I didn't think a Herring gull would take a Puffin.

Definitely a Greater Black Backed Gull. These are massive, i think they have a bigger wingspan than your average Buzzard!
