I wanted to share something from Rowena this morning, but first I figured I should do a quick introduction. I joined NPN a few weeks ago and have been posting in the critique forums, but this is my first PNWNP post.
I was always interested in photography, but I didn't start shooting regularly until I bought a Digital Rebel in 2003. Since then I've been totally hooked. My passion is wildlife and landscape photography, with a little macro thrown in. For now it's a hobby, although I'm working on selling stock/prints to recoup some equipment costs. I live in Corvallis, and my regular job is software engineering.
This was my first visit to Rowena, and I have to say that it is just an incredible place. I was hiking up the ridge when the sun broke through the clouds, and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Anyways, I know you have all seen lots of images from Rowena, so I'd love to get some feedback about whether this is new or interesting to you or any technical comments, etc.
I'll bet the print will look better than this web version. Web versions of this type tend to look lighter and darker (in the respective areas) than they really are.
It was a great morning, wasn't it? I went out towards the Dalles Hills and found some nice grasses.
Hey Andrew, Great moody shot.....I saw the light as I was driving to Eagle Creek, and I toyed with the idea of skipping it and going to Rowena.......but I heard some water calling my name!!!!!
I was out at Rowena about 10 am and there was a great thin layer of clouds to filter the sun and the air was still.......I was pretty happy with what I got.....then I went over to DMR and it sucked....no flowers and they did something to the road and my car did not like it....so I left!!!!!
Yeah, I was really glad the sun showed up this morning...especially since I got up really early to drive up from Corvallis . Rowena Crest was surrounded by clouds when I got there, so I was a little worried.
on that note, I will say.....It has been pouring down rain in Portland and I have drove out to RC and found the most beautiful sunrises ever.........they are in to different regions so the weather is different....and I love that because it usually keeps all the Portlanders ( I live in Battle Ground ) away!!!!
Darren, I was going to head for Eagle Creek after Rowena, but I was too tired after waking up at 2am to get to Rowena in time. Hope you got some good water shots!
