Small Blue
To make a change from my normal weekend chasing birds (feathered) around the Kent country side, I spent a few hours chasing these guys instead. I wish I had used a smaller aperture to gain more DOF. Despite having more images with good DOF I like this image, its full frame.

Not seen these for a year or two.
Nice pic .
To me the OOF bits are a little distracting.

Glad you got some keepers Tony, all mine went to the recycle bin! :frown:

Well worth the effort, and thanks for some great company.

Nice one although I'm with John and would prefer more DoF.

Speak soon

it looks pretty good to me Tony and a nice looking butterfly. A bit more DOF would help all parts of the butterfly to be sharp but then you tend to get a more cluttered background. Decisions, decisions...

Hi Tony,

Superb capture! I like the depth of feild as it is! If you had of stopped down any more the background would have become too busy IMHO!

Nicely done Tony,

Always a personal 'judgement call', with regards to dof in certain situations.

Looks good to my eye :toast:

A nice shot, I do like it. I agree with Paul - I tend to prefer shallow dof that centres on the important bits rather than ending up with a distracting background. Well done on snapping an elusive butterfly.

Hi Tony,

Hard to say how I'd prefer to see this shot as in some respects I agree about the lack of DOF but in the other extreme I enjoy seeing subjects in their environment and that's seems to be what you've achieved here and on that level it works for me.
