Teneral Blue Tailed
40D, 180/3.5 + 12mm ext + 1.4, Benbo 1 + BH1.
ISO640, 1/250 @ f14, Manual, Incident metered.
ACR 4 + CS3 resize & sharpen.

Hi,

A short while ago I commented on how good the 40D is at higher ISO's for close up photography... here I needed a higher shutter speed which I was able to get by raising the ISO to 640, as long as you can fill the frame the results are quite remarkable no noise reduction has been used here...

All the best

very nice Phil, lovely colours. The noise levels look very good. I've been disappointed with noise on my 400D on a couple of occasions recently when I've shot at ISO 400 but accidentally underexposed slightly. I think the 40D does perform better and you obviously got the exposure right here.

That Digic 3 processor is a good'un, The files on the MK3 are beautiful and ISO 400 is now my default setting and am quite happy to go to 800 and beyond which was crap on the 20D and not too good on the MK2,I guess one day noise will be a thing of the past and only available as a filter
Anyway back to the image-beautifully clear and clean looking-Love the silvery metallic look

Looks OK to me.
As a matter of interest I leave my D200 on 640 99% of the time. Once you get used to ityou know where you are.

Very clean and sharp macroshot Phil!
Agree with Dave, ISO 400 is the limit with my 20D. But this is already a big enhencement for me,
2 years ago I shoot with MF 4,5X6 ISO 100. :frown:
Good times for us Naturefreaks.
Have fun.

Very nice Phil, very crisp, great DoF. It's good to know that ISO640 is useable if I need it!

Superb work Phil in every way. I am looking forward to catching up later this week and perhaps we could try some more of this as well as the plotted agenda..?

Kind regards,

Brett

Have nothing but praise for the 40D followinggin part your strong recommendation Phil - it's working as an excellent back-up that adds another element to my repertoire too.

This cracking image just confirms it's capabilities as you say.
