I went out Friday morning looking for dragon's but didn't find any.

I did find plenty of dam's though. Unfortunately, I took my wifes tripod which has the 'same' manfrotto video head on it.

It wasn't - they had mod'd the q/r plate and head and my plate didn't fit. Nightmare! I had to balance my kit on the head and pray.

This Chap performed in front of me for around 10 minutes. He chommped his way through a lot of little flies.

Looks like your praying paid off, great shot sharp well exposed and a lovely background :toast:

A nice change from the usual side on shot. The wing positions look good.

a very nicely composed shot, these demoiselles make great subjects. I had a similar problem on a recent trip out and also ended up having to balance the camera on the tripod

Simple and highly effective.

Very nice, I like the balance of the composition with the reed going one way and the abdomen almost perpendicular to that, and you've got focus where it counts. the wing position is also interesting - more characteristic of emerald damselflies!

Really a very nice image. I like the shape of the wings and the DOF works great as well.
