Water Spider (C)
Found this film scan whilst searching for pic requests. Made me realise how long it has been since I saw one of these.

Really interesting shot, John. this is a species I've never managed to see (that's despite calling myself a spider specialist!). My only nit is the pale area filling the bottom right corner of the image, but I've never even tried aquaria shots and I'm sure it's very hard getting things looking natural!
I love it! It's great to see some of your more unusual stuff. Despite knowing about these, and looking for them, I've never seen a water spider 'in the flesh'.
Thanks all.
I agree it's very hard to get underwater stuff right because we all tend to use a silly blue or coloured background , ( and lovely goldfish bowl pebbles !! ) and they just dont look like that in real life. Mind you if we showed them as they are, then most folks wouldn't bother to look !

That takes me back to my schooldays John, when my bedroom shelves were stacked with tankfulls of stuff like this. This one serves to remind me how long it is since I saw one.
A fine shot. Eric
