Haw Creek Falls today
I went exploring today for future spots for good pictures, but I got to Haw Creek and noticed the water was running. A pretty good storm had just passed. I had to abort my plan to explore Piney Creek Road to Limestone because the water was too high at the Hurricane Creek Ford. I then decided to go south to Longpool via a Forest Service Road but a tree had fallen about two miles south of Highway 123, so I had to abort this route also.

I did get this shot before the locals setup a baby pen and a grill just to the left of this shot and then decided to play in the falls while I was taking pictures. Oh well, its Memorial Day and it was good to be out.

Wow, I can't believe there was that much water TODAY! They must have had a lot more rain than us. Did you happen to go up to Pam's Grotto? It should have been flowing well too...

Tim, I did not make it up to Pam's Grotto, I was worried about the ticks, chiggers and poison ivy. I found three ticks on me just from my short excursion to Haw Creek Falls! I am sure it was running. There were numerous small falls visible from the road. I was really surprised how much water was around the area.

Great shot, Tom. You managed to capture a lot of detail in the water. Regarding Piney Creek Road, I took it from Limestone to Hurricane Creek Ford back in December, and it is extremely rough north of the Parker Ridge Road intersection. I'll never again travel it unless I'm in a four wheel drive vehicle with high clearance.
As far as rainfall goes, the rainfall total map from Weather Underground showed that the area got two to three inches of rain Sunday afternoon. I got caught out in that storm and I believe it. Monday morning's storms added another half inch by noon.

I really like the wispy details in the water flowing out from the falls - very nice Tom.

I imagine it will really be going after the rain today.

Wow - beautiful water! You've nicely captured the motion and energy of the water. Very nice!

Hi Tom glad you caught it up. The water looks very clean a nice waterfall shot. I would have been tempted to get a little wet there also. Any idea if the richland campground road is cleared yet?

Nice shot, Tom. And it looks like the pine tree that fell over a few months ago has either been washed away or is pretty much hidden by all the foliage.
