Excellent use of the beefo and cheapo! I like that the tree lines are at a bit of a diagonal. Did you tilt the camera for that effect, or was the tree leaning?
The background tree was one of those thousand year old, 40 foot tall stumps. The branches were probably 25 feet up so I stepped a little way back with the 200 to decrease the angle I was looking up. The background tree was leaning.
Mark, I gotta say this one ain't doing much for me. I know you want to hear all opinions though. You know, it's really a personal thing. Like so much of art, it can really speak to some people more than others. I guess, if anything, this just feels kinda there...if you know what I mean. Not quite random, but random enough that it doesn't really grab me like so many images of yours do. To each their own, eh?
Marc, you're totally correct. This one falls into the "nice" category but really, nothing more. I like it, it's sort of arty but it's really nothing special. I'm way more happy with my recent grass shots. I only posted it because it is pretty much my best shot of the day (and even still, the day was not a bad day, it was a nice hike and Jeremy, Rick and I had a fun time talking trash and playing with our grow up kid toys).
Its funny Mark, i shot a pic like this out walking yesterday. A huge old cedar with black stark branches in front of it. The cedar appears to have fresh claw marks going up or down it. I checked out all the other cedars and they werent peeling like i thought this may have been. I took two shots of it, showing the claw marks in focus and the branches out of focus and vice verse. If they are claw marks. :) I'll post them here if you would like to see them. :) Cliff
