Goldfinch (repost)
Another one from Sunday morning, taken a couple of minutes after my Swallow shot. Sunday turned out to be a very good day indeed, great light in the morning and then that afternoon we had a Pine Bunting turn up on the island, which I believe is a first for the Channel Islands! (I have a couple of shots of it on my site if anybody would like to see it).

Canon 40D, 500mm f/4 Lens, 1.4x, f/11, 1/1000, ISO 400, -1/3EC.

Thanks

Nicely taken Paul,

The bright appearence of the image certainly shows the high light-levels you had, and very nicely handled :toast:

Nice capture Paul :toast:

Perhaps could have done with selecting a lower contrast curve in your RAW processor, but it's a nice image and comp matey :toast:

Don't forget to give me a shout when you are up here!

This is very nice, Paul.

You've done well with rather strong lighting. I'd be tempted to crop a little from top and the RHS to make it a it tighter and lose the bit of gorse bottom right.

Very nice indeed! It does seem a little bright, which may be a result of the contrast issues mentioned previously. I'm seeing some noise in the lower left corner, which I don't see anwhere else. Maybe a little NR there would help?

Ok so I've had another bash at it with all suggestions taken on board, I didn't position the bird any further over to the left as it looked a little off balance plus I did a bit of quick masking to hide the little bit of remaining dead gorse in the bottom right corner...any better chaps?

Hi Paul,

The repost is more than worth the effort! Great feather detail and much easier on the eye! I like the composition as presented!
