Club Tailed Dragonfly (Gomphus vulgatisimus)
Went down to my local site on the Severn for these last evening(and anything else ) It wasn't raining !
Last year on the same date we found twenty odd. last night I found one !
D200 Sigma 50 mm standard with No 2 close up.
Camera flash
Wish I'd had the new macro which I can't afford yet and may never convince the wife that I need !

Thanks Major
It would be nice not to have to get so close up their bums !. I wouldn't get that close if they were "warmed up " anyway !
]The wife's OK , it's just that we've just had the fuel bill in !!
Cheers

You will have to produce a few crappy images to convince the wife.

I've never managed to see a Club-Tailed, they're fairly localised from what I gather.

Great image, really like the reflections in the wings.
Minor nit, is the spider in bottom right corner, think it's trying to get in on the action

Cracking shot John and my favourite dragonfly to boot , well done on the capture
Andy...
Beautiful capture! Another top draw image, Mr Robinson! Unfortunately lens lust is only curable with the purchase of the desired item!
