Hawk plus Repost
I was going to look for wildflowers this afternoon, but I found a much more interesting subject. I believe this is a juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk. He was after a groundhog in a meadow, but fur defied feathers today as the GH wasn't about to become lunch! If the Hawk had been an adult, I'm sure the story would have had a different ending.
After pretty much giving up on a meal, the Hawk settled on this wire long enough to get a few decent shots. There are a few images of the Hawk in a tree (I was able to approach him within 20 feet), but of course branches got in the way and the lighting wasn't as good.

While trying to get a few images, I had my car idling by the side of the road in a no parking zone and a policeman came by....oops!!! Luckily he understood, and just told me to be careful.

Guess nobody told that dumb kid that a groundhog is too heavy to carry off! The perfect blue sky really sets him off nicely.

Toni,
Did you shoot a vertical? Did you shoot the policeman?

Jack..no verticals of the Hawk on the wire this time, but will try again now that I know where he hangs out! No, I decided to let the policeman "live".

Toni, have you tried a crop with the bird moved to the far right of the frame? Considering the direction it's looking, I think it might work.

Joel, no I hadn't had much time to play with the image until now. I cropped it to vertical and upsized it a bit....better now?
