Lower Calf Falls

Another from my Utah trip of late April, here's a shot of lower calf falls. Hiked in around 8am and had the place to myself for the entire hour or so I was there, passed a crowd on the way out.

Wonderful colors and comp. I didn't realize that it got full sun by 10am which is when I'm assuming this was shot based on your 8am start time.

1st shot I took was at 930am and had full sun, 1015am on this particular shot, taken on April 28, 2008!

Pretty nice for full sun. I like the greens and oranges under the falls.
This was on my list but when I had time for it the time wasn't right. It's nice to see what I missed.

In the foreground of this shot were 4 or 5 ducks as I walked up, didnt really see them until too late as would have made great addition to the shot, if I could have sneaked up. Oh well, was great place to visit and have fun shooting, and yes, pretty high sun, but what the heck. Really enjoyed having the place to myself for the hour I was there. Obviously took a bunch of different angles... good place for pleasent hike.

You've handled the contrasty scene very well. I like it. Although the tree branch over the sky is very distracting for me. But on the other hand I appreciate how you were trying to compose everything included here.

Nothing beat hiking early!

Nice shot of a classic scene. I'd maybe do a little burning of the (what appears) blown out highlights in the falls to tame them a bit.

mmmmmmmmmm I was 50/50 on if I should post the shot with the branch in the sky... obviously I took a bunch and most didnt have that the branch... ill try to post another later... fun place.

Extended range of digital helps you not lose detail in the shadows. Looks nice.
