I arrived at Ecola to a hazy grey sky that wasn't showing much promise for a decent sunset. After sliding my way partially down the trail to crescent beach, I turned around for a far less muddy trip out on Indian beach. As the sun got lower the sky still showed no signs of color or any real interest at all. I was beginning to wonder why I made the drive knowing full well the poor forecasts. I did notice a small break in the clouds slightly above the horizon so I figured i'd stick it out and see what developed.
This shot was captured as the sun made its way just below the horizon flashing the overcast into a brilliant pink. I have seen some really awesome skies at Ecola, but this was far more than I expected. I only had about 60 seconds to click the shutter before the color had faded.
